Dr. Emily Melin is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse at the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System, specializing in geriatrics within the CHAMPIONS program. She oversees the comprehensive care of surgical patients—preoperative to postoperative—ensuring smooth transitions back to home care, coordinating rehabilitation, and arranging follow-up services. 

Her role extends to providing health assessments and acting as a liaison for cardiothoracic patients and their caregivers. Before her current role, she worked in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Sacred Heart University, where she also conducted research on the CHAMPIONS program. 

Dr. Melin, board certified in Family Advanced Practice Nursing and Geriatrics, has expanded her expertise to neurology, focusing on stem cells and exosomes. She has contributed to the field through publications, including a notable article in the JAMA Surgery journal, and serves as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing.
